Dec. 6, 2011: Cutting school days creates a legal, logistical mess . The governor’s proposal to cut and later ask voters to “buy back” four days of school gambles with our children’s future, and Washington State PTA strongly opposes it. Feb. 21, 2011 - Our kids need your help.  Legislators are in session making key decisions that will affect the state’s education budget for the upcoming year. Some proposed budget cuts that can affect our school district are the elimination of highly capable programs (SAGE and MERLIN) and the elimination of the PE, Music or Library requirements for K-8 students, which would result in no state funding for those programs. 

 Please consider writing/emailing your representatives and asking them for their support for these programs and to move forward with education’s top priority issues.  Here are the names and email addresses of our 5th District Legislators:

On October 8th, PTSA Representative from Washington State schools met to discuss issues concerning our schools and to vote for the top five issues that would become the 2010-2011 PTA platform. Thank you to everyone who participated in the PTSA Legislative Assembly survey for BLMS.  Four of the top five issues for our membership will be on the platform for the Washington State PTA.
